Today is our first wedding anniversary. Tinderboy and I got married a year ago today. We eloped to Gretna Green with the children and one witness each and it was beautiful.

We are now in a hotel in London, preparing to see Ed Sheeran live at Wembley as part of our celebrations.

All wedding anniversaries have a traditional gift attached to the year and the first year is paper, so our tickets work perfectly as our gift to each other! Mike has never been to a concert of any kind and Ed Sheeran is his absolute favourite artist. Good old Ed also links into our wedding as the song played at our wedding ceremony, “I was made for loving you”, was written by Ed Sheeran. The original was sung by Tori Kelly, but our cover version was sung by another of our favourite singers, Madilyn Bailey.

And so I thought our first wedding anniversary would be the perfect opportunity to share our wedding video and some of our favourite wedding photos, as I’ve not shared them on the blog before. Although to be fair, the wedding video has more clips of the children looking cute than it has clips of Mike and I!

Our wedding video and photos were made by Elite Photography and Videography (and shared with their permission). Our witnesses were my mum and Mike’s dad – we didn’t tell anybody else that we were getting married. My mum made my bouquet, the children’s bouquets and the buttonholes. She also made the children’s bridesmaid dresses and spent several days making alterations to my wedding dress as it was too long! We were provided a wedding coordinator by Greens at Gretna Hotel (the first hotel in Scotland), who was wonderfully helpful. The registrar provided by Dumfries and Galloway council was lovely too. Mum and I had our hair done in the hotel salon and I did my own makeup. We also hired the hotels conservatory for a three course wedding lunch, which was delicious. Between our starters and main course, we called family to drop the news that we had eloped. We threw a big party for all our friends and family a few weeks later… but that’s a whole other blog post!

I love reading your posts and positivity. I’m at my wits end going through separation with eight year old twins but reading your blog helps me keep hoping that there will be an end to it and a light at the end of the tunnel. xx

Wow at such a well planned Gretna wedding, I was half expecting to read just an elopement in normal clothes, very niave of me. You all look amazing and adore the pic of the 3 girls coming towards the camera.
My daughter had Ed Sheeran Thinking out loud as the first dance at her wedding. What a great 1st anniversary, love how you tied in paper with a new experience for your other half.
Totally agree with Sarah on how talented your mother is.
