“May the Fourth Be With You”… is a phrase I only associate with my final hour of labour, eight short years ago. Whilst trying to push a human being out of my body, my husband somehow thought this phrase, in the first hour of May 4th 2007, would be encouraging. It really wasn’t. But my Star Wars Baby (who has never seen Star Wars… and neither have I), was born nevertheless. She is now 8 years old. Eight! Where did those years go? Surely I’m not old enough to have an eight year old? I’m still in my twenties (JUST)!
We celebrated with a small party. Bunny invited five friends (but only three showed up – the other two didn’t even RSVP!) and they sat at the dining table making cat masks and listening to Olly Murs, before enjoying a birthday lunch. Some of the children ran out of time for painting, so they took home a paint-it-yourself dog moneybox, to finish at home, whilst two stayed and finished theirs.
We did all the usual party food and Bunny demanded I make a cake which looks just like our cat, Nala. Icing is really not my strong point, but I think I did okay in the end.
As it’s going to be Tiny and Fluffy’s birthday next week, whilst we are on holiday, we decided they could invite four friends too (all twins). We didn’t structure their part of the party, as at their age, they just like to play with toys and hug each other. We got a ball pit out, they played with the toy kitchen and they enjoyed playing on the trampoline too. Two year olds are relatively east to entertain.
The twins favourite presents were anything and everything Peppa Pig related!
Bunny was thoroughly spoilt with presents, so she decided to do a “haul” video, to show off what she got. You can watch that here:
All the children had a lovely day, but I’m still recovering from the madness! We also had fun with helium balloons from Balloon Time. You can read my review of that tomorrow. Now it’s time for us to start packing as we have a weekend in London ahead, followed by a week in Menorca… exciting times!
A ‘haul’ video – great idea! Also helps tell the family and friends who are far away, about the birthday and saves the hassle of lots of thank you calls.
The cake was great! I can’t believe neither of you have seen Star Wars. I must have seen it abnout 100 times. I think it’s partly the massive amount of boys we have!

Happy birthday to all your girls! It sounds like they had a brilliant time and I love the cake you made! Great ideas for party entertainment for the older girls, too.
Have a good weekend and holiday! X
