Winter, is the time when I choose to hibernate. I don’t like the cold, dark weather and we rarely think to have a holiday in the winter. I do however, make exceptions for snow days and anything festive!
We’ve done Disneyland Paris a few times in winter, which was fantastic and I really think a holiday in winter, even if to somewhere equally cold, can be good for us. It gets me back out in the fresh air and I especially love anywhere that celebrates the festive season.
One place I’ve always wanted to go, is Lapland! I always have a look online at Cosmos Lapland Holidays, yet the right time to book one, hasn’t yet come along. I think perhaps this is one to save for when the twins are about three years old, although I want to go whilst Bunny still believes in Santa.
What appeals to me about Lapland?
The snow
The beautiful scenery
To see the spectacle that is the Northern lights (this is on my 30 before 30 list!)
A log cabin with a warm cosy fire to toast marshmallows
Reindeer wandering around outside
Huskies pulling sleds
Rides in snow mobiles
Skiing (although I’ve never actually tried skiing)
Just look at some of the photos of Lapland on Google. Stunning.
I can just imagine the magic of going Christmas week – of waking up there and spending Christmas day in Lapland. The smiles on the children’s faces, opening presents and then running outside in nice new hats and gloves to build a snowman. A real white Christmas. A three course Christmas dinner (cooked by someone else), a warming hot chocolate afterwards and family snuggles. Some of these log cabins even have saunas – and free WiFi, so I could blog my photos!
It’d be amazing. A dream for a few years time, perhaps.
This to is my dream, yes i am a big kid hehe. It justs feels so magical when you look at the pic, but it’s a shame it is sooo expensive to go x
I’ve always loved the idea of Lapland too, but sadly my kids are too old now. I hope you get your dream one day!
It would be amazing to go there. I’ve never been either but would love to.
