I had thought, that with a name like Emma, Storm Emma would be a force to be reckoned with. Sadly, I was left feeling a little disappointed by the storm I share my name with. We had five solid days of snow. BRILLIANT. I love the snow. It didn’t settle in Cheltenham though, until the evening of Thursday 1st March 2018. By this point it was too dark to go out and play. By Saturday 3rd March, most of the snow had melted into a brown slush. This only left us one play day. So on Friday, 2nd March, the children and I went out to play.
The snow was very powdery, which meant it wasn’t mouldable and didn’t stick very well, so our snowman, didn’t look like your average snowman. We thought he was quite cute though.
The children had snowball fights, enjoyed throwing snow all over themselves and made snow angels. I loved seeing the glee and wonder on their faces. I wish they had gotten a few more days fun out of the snow. Perhaps then we would have been able to venture further afield and buy a sledge.
Baby Bear kept trying to take his wellies and gloves off, which meant we couldn’t stay out too long, for fear of him getting cold.
I absolutely adore the photos I got to take of the four of them.
We did get a little bit of play time on Saturday morning too, where we realised the snow had become more sticky. We were playing in the park and the snow was already rapidly melting, so the girls didn’t have the patience to craft a spectacular snowman, so we made a hasty mini snowman instead.
I tried to go out and take photos of the snow around Cheltenham, but sadly I was too late. The grass was poking out, the lakes were thawing and the snow atop roofs and trees had melted or blown away. I don’t think we will get another snow until next winter, so for now, I will treasure these snowy pictures of my beautiful children and look forward to summer!

Those are lovely pictures, and your snowman is super cute.
I can’t believe how late the snow came down in Cheltenham though, and typically my school didn’t decide to close early!

Gorgeous photos, so glad you managed to have some fun in the snow, even if the snow didn’t stick around for long! We’re always disappointed when we find it’s powdery snow and we can’t build snowmen! #countrykids

Love your snowman especially as it wasn’t the best snow for snowman making. it’s a shame that you only got one snow day but looks like you made the most of it and the children certainly look like they were having a lot of fun 🙂 #countrykids
Loving those hats!! You were disappointed in storm Emma!!? We didn’t get her! Only the icy wind of the Thursday and no snow! Think that’s the best snow man this week! #countrykids
Beautiful photos! The snow was pretty short-lived, wasn’t it? At least you got to go out and play in it.

It sounds like Cheltenham was just like Cornwall, we watched the snow all day on Thursday but it was only a covering by evening and we sledged in the dark. Thankfully the freezing temperatures meant it was all still there in the morning and we made the most of it knowing it wouldn’t last. Looks like you did just the same and what gorgeous snowy pictures full of happiness and rosy cheeks to remember your snow day.
