In my neverending quest to satisfy my hunger, I managed to waddle to the shop up the road for some jam doughnuts. Mmmmmm doughnuts! I was delighted when the guy at the till told me it was ten doughnuts for £1! I calculated that to be 2 for me, 2 for each twin, 2 for Bunny and 2 for daddy! So imagine my disappointment when I open the bag to find they are about half the size I remember doughnuts being. Or is it coz I’m so big they look so small??? Well its confusing, but I guess if they are smaller, I may be saving myself from gestational diabetes!
“Eating for three” is a great excuse to eat a LOT! I appreciate that I don’t actually need to eat much more than normal to feed the twins – I think pregnancy guidance states one extra potato with your evening meal – but most people don’t know that and eating is my favourite hobby! Luckily I’m one of those “lucky bitches” (as I’m told) that has an extremely fast digestive system and can happily squeeze my tush into size 8 jeans (that’s UK size 8 for my overseas readers).
On the train the other day I had sandwiches, a packet of Oreos & three bags of sweets – I think the only reason I got funny looks over it was because it was only 10:00 am, but in all fairness, I’d had breakfast 2 hours before – 2 hours is a long time to go without food when you have two womb monkeys taking all your energy.
My mum finds it quite comical that I’ve been put off hot cross buns before its even easter. After having had 4 for breakfast the other day with about half a packet of butter on, I felt a bit queasy and haven’t wanted one since. Mmmmmm butter!
I’m not ALL unhealthy, I’m aware that my diet is rarely close to balanced so I religeously take pre-natal vitamins, minerals and omegas. Another part of my daily ritual includes massaging ‘mum-to-be’ tummy butter into my bump, it makes me feel better, eases the stretching pains and it smells gorgeous. Have to look after this youthful skin after all. A lot of my friends have said “I didn’t use a body butter and I don’t have many stretchmarks” but the point is I don’t want ANY if i can help it and lets face it – I’m growing pretty HUGE!
The funny thing about this pregnancy is I haven’t really had any cravings. With Bunny I had an addiction to strawberry milkshake or anything milk based, but developed a phobia of Brussels Sprouts. This stemmed from gagging on one at Xmas Dinner at a friends, in front of all his family (slightly awkward)! Mmmmmm sprouts fried in bacon!
This time around though the only craving I have is beer! I really want the taste of beer. I really think I could happily sink a few in fact, but I don’t think my growing sproglets would approve. 🙁
I miss a lot of the “banned pregnancy foods”, shellfish, soft cheeses and eggs the most. Mmmmmm runny eggs. But I don’t think that’s a craving as such – that’s just me being a typical girl that wants what she can’t have!
Mmmmmmmm beer!!!
