In May, Bunny will turn 7 years old. This means, as soon as my birthday has passed (next week), she will start talking about what sort of birthday party she wants.
We’ve been down the disco route, three times. It was a lot of fun for her and 30-50 friends, but it’s time to do something different.
We’ve done the bouncy castle in the garden idea.
Last year she had a craft party at home.
We chose to skip the soft play idea, after several children came home with injuries from the last one Bunny was invited to.
The swimming idea works out expensive, once you’ve added on 10+ children + adults + food.
The picnic idea is lovely, but the weather can’t be guaranteed.
So something different…
How about Go Karting? It turns out, you don’t have to go to an expensive go-karting track full of teenagers driving at insane speeds.
I recently discovered Go-Kart Party who have an inflatable Go-Kart track and speed-adjustable go-karts aimed at 4-10 year olds. There are numerous venues across the country that they already serve, but they can also come to you, if you have a big enough venue. So perhaps a village hall or a field or large garden?
Basically, they set up the track and the children drive the Go-Karts on a low speed, until they are competent enough to be switched to a faster setting. Then they can race mini Grand Prixs to win trophies and medals. I love that the vote the birthday child as “the safest driver” and get them to do a lap of honour! I think that’s a really sweet touch.
I think this would be right up Bunny’s street, so I’m going to keep this idea in mind, for when the birthday discussions come up! None of her friends have had a party like this either, so I think it’d be very exciting for them.
