Around about the time I first started blogging (30 weeks pregnant with twins), I developed Pre-Eclampsia, which then developed into HELLP Syndrome. The first symptom I developed (which several doctors dismissed), was swelling in my hands and feet. I woke up one morning to my wedding finger hurting and looking a strange shade of purple. I quickly put my hand in soapy cold water and wiggled off my wedding and engagement rings.
I was unable to put my wedding ring back on until 4 months post natal as the swelling took such a long time to go down. But even then, I still couldn’t get my engagement ring back on. I resigned myself to the fact that perhaps I just had fatter fingers now? I haven’t really put on any weight, but my body isn’t the same shape it was pre-twins! I decided that in the new year, I was going to get my engagement ring re-sized so that I could wear it again. My wedding ring looked lonely without it.
But then last week, I decided to give it another go…

I’m delighted my rings both fit again. It’s been about 9 months now since I could wear them. I feel married again! 🙂
yay! i have to say they are stunning rings!

Ah that is so so lovely – you must feel complete again 🙂
They feared I had pre-eclampsyia when I had Aaron so they medically intervened. I’d had NO symptoms till arriving for delivery. When we were too far gone to go back I mumbled, did you ever get the results of those tests, to which they said yes, you don’t have it, BUT they’d already put me on a road to intervention – they weren’t taking ANY risks….

They were the opposite with me. I had pre-eclampsia for weeks and it went undiagnosed until I was firm with them and said “There is something wrong with me”. Even then, they just blood tested me every other day for two weeks. By then I had a suspicion it’d developed into HELLP Syndrome but they dismissed the idea. I insisted on early induction and took criticism from the midwives for it. I was critically ill in hospital by the time they admitted I was right – I had pre-eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome and nearly died as my kidneys and liver went into failure. The babies had not grown for 5 weeks but they failed to notice until they were born. It was quite a shock giving birth to 4 lb’ers when we were expecting 6lb’ers.
such a beautiful ring set.. i need to know where its from please 🙂
Wedding ring was from H Samuel. I don’t know where the engagement ring was from.
