After resigning myself to the fact that I was simply NOT going to go into labour naturally and that I would have to endure the hell of induction again, I woke up in labour at 3:50 am on 18th July 2016. I was 42 weeks and 1 day pregnant and scheduled for induction the very next day. I was HUGELY relieved to have a spontaneous labour, and a nice straightforward one at that. After nine and a half hours of drug-free labour, just when I reached the point that I could no longer cope with the pain, Baby Bear was born, weighing 7lbs 14oz. My beautiful baby boy was born into my arms and just like with my three girls, the love was instantaneous. The love was there before I even held him, but it multiplied a hundred fold once I set eyes on him.
My lifelong friend Kerry was by my side every moment and was the best birth partner I could ever have wished for. She cut Baby Bear’s cord and then he and I had skin to skin cuddles for almost an hour. He wriggled his way to my breast and latched on perfectly first time. Our breastfeeding journey began just like that and I was so relieved. I hadn’t been able to hold or feed my twins for quite a while after their birth, due to being seriously ill, but this time was different. This time was perfect.
I took the summer (and Baby Bear’s first 5 weeks of life) off of blogging and spent it bonding with my baby, enjoying precious family time with my boy, my girls and my incredibly supportive boyfriend. Yes… I kept this one quiet, because I didn’t want to have to share yet more heartache on my blog. I wanted to be sure, before I mentioned the new boyfriend. We’ve been together a few months now and I will blog our story soon. I don’t remember ever being this happy. Regular readers of my blog will know that my life has faced many challenges, many ups and downs. Some say my life has been like a soap opera, with far more misfortune than most experience in a lifetime. But I’m not the type of person to dwell on my misfortunes, I like to be thankful for all I have, all I’ve achieved, all I’ve experienced, the lessons I’ve learnt from the tougher times, and the love surrounding my life.
And my goodness… there is SO MUCH LOVE in my life right now.
So it’s my great privilege to introduce to you… Baby Bear…
I’ve been following your journey and I’m so happy for you not just because you welcomed the most gorgeous little boy into your life. But also for finding happiness in a new relationship. You have had many ups and downs and now it looks like things will be going up and up for you. I look forward to seeing your journey continue. I’m sorry I don’t comment enough I struggle with looking after my two boys . A house of animals and trying to blog as well. But I hope I can comment on some more posts in the future. Much love Andrea X
