Regular readers will know that we had an extension built last year, adding a large double bedroom and an extra bathroom to our home. One of the most exciting things about having an extension, is choosing how to decorate it and what furniture to put in it.
“So where are the photos?”, I hear you ask. In fact, I’ve been blown away by how many people have asked me why I stopped putting progress photos on my Facebook, but there’s a good reason for it. I don’t want to share the final extension photos until the room is completely 100% finished. The build itself was completed in July 2020. We bought new wardrobes, wallpaper, new dressing table and new bedside tables. We bought lamps and storage baskets, bedding, cushions, throws, curtain poles and curtains, but we still haven’t chosen a bed!
Why is it so hard to choose a bed?
We found a few we liked, but then checked the dimensions and they were just too low for our needs. I’m quite fussy on look too, so the colour and fabric is important, as it needs to go with the rest of the room. I’d like a tall fabric headboard. I like the ones with buttons on. One of our requirements is that the bed MUST HAVE lots of storage, so we’ve been looking at gas lift ottoman beds. These would give us loads of room for under bed storage and we can get lots of lidded boxes to organise everything. I’m a big fan of The Home Edit so organisation is key in our home since we’ve started renovating every room.
It has crossed our minds, more than a few times, that we could get a TV bed, for a bit of luxury. If you’ve not seen them, basically the TV is hidden in the footboard during the day, and pops up out the top when you want to watch the tele. Crazy right? It turns out you can get a gas lift ottoman bed as a TV bed too. That would tick a lot of boxes!
Until we can make a decision, we’ve got our old scratched black leather bed with a nail varnish stain on the headboard. Cheers kids! We still need to actually put the wallpaper up on the feature wall too. I became quite attached to the freshly painted walls, so we have been umming and erring over whether or not to put the wallpaper up, but I don’t think the room will look “finished” until we do.
So for those of you who have asked… yes the extension is complete. No you cannot see it! Haha. Sorry. This photo of our old bed and new bedside tables, is all you’re getting for now. I will do a big reveal once we’ve resolved our bed dilemma. We have, however, completely finished the twins new bedroom, so I will do a full reveal of that on the blog very soon.
