How did half term creep up on us so fast? It suddenly dawned on us, now it’s here, that we have no plans.
We are instead looking at last minute plans. We were going to go and stay in the in-laws caravan for a few days, but they changed their minds, so we are toying with the idea of camping instead. We have a friend happy to loan us a tent and we have a portable BBQ we could take with us too. The weather is forecast to be good, so we won’t need waterproofs or wellies. We have sleeping bags and camping mats, so we are pretty much all set, apart from needing to buy a few more tent pegs.
Living in the Cotswolds though, I know that if we did need any more camping gear, there’s a fab outdoor clothing and equipment store called Cotswold Outdoor, which started as a small local shop and is now a huge national chain. They sell pretty much everything you could need for camping and outdoor adventures.
So the question is… where to go?
We are considering Brean in Somerset, as I used to work at a pub there called The Beachcomber, which we know has live entertainment every night and a children’s bar. It’s also only about a 45 minute journey from our house and would be a nice little trip down memory lane.
We could go further afield and hit the Devon or Cornwall coast, which we love, but I imagine most of those places are fully booked by now.
Alternatively, we could go to a campsite near to Chessington World of Adventures or LEGOLAND Windsor and make use of our Merlin annual passes. We’ve already been to Alton Towers, Weymouth SEALIFE Tower, the National SEALIFE centre in Birmingham and on the London Eye, but we still have so many exciting places to go!
Our week in Menorca gave me the travel bug, so now I just want to go places.
The very last thing I want during half term… is bored children!
