So I’m a few weeks late posting this, due a technical glitch but, I wrote this on his birthday!
My beautiful baby Bear,
I can’t believe you are THREE already! How can you be three years old so soon?
It’s your 3rd birthday but it feels like such a short time ago that I woke Daddy up at 4am to tell him you were on your way to meet us. I’ve never seen Daddy more excited than he was in that moment. And once you were born, Daddy and I kept crying with overwhelming happy tears. Daddy had never known a love as powerful as the love you taught him. The love between father and son. The moment we saw you, we were head over heels in love with you.
You are ridiculously clever for your age, meeting all your milestones well in advance. We can have long entertaining conversations with you, because you’re such a chatty boy. You speak so clearly and have so many words in your vocabulary. You make us laugh EVERY DAY.
Oh my heart, I love you so much!
You are very sweet and kind, with the most impeccable manners for a two year old – now three year old! And you are very much a home boy. You become very shy when we go anywhere new or meet people you don’t know really well.
There are times when only Daddy will do, but most of the time, you’re a proper mummy’s boy. You know how to play us both, to get what you want! And that cheeky smile makes it IMPOSSIBLE for us to say no to you.
You are so well behaved. The terrible twos didn’t really happen for you. Tantrums are few and far between and I adore how cuddly you are. You always want cuddles and kisses and eskimos.
I am SO proud of the little boy you are and I will be so sad when you reach the age to start school, because I’ll miss you during the day. You’re my mini best friend and my playmate. I love that after toddler club, I say to you, “what shall we do next?” And you tell me where you’d like to go and what you’d like for lunch. And we nearly always end up making a plan from your ideas.
Last weekend we had your birthday party. We hired a bouncy castle and went to our friends field. And one of your little friends and a few of your bigger friends showed up. And lots of your family and a couple of godparents came too. It was a lovely day of BBQ food, sunshine, bubbles, presents, cake, trampolining and jumping on the bouncy castle. You loved every second of it.
And then on your actual birthday… Lots more presents (you wanted SO MANY THINGS). Your main present was a fire engine themed bicycle, which you’ve wanted for months. Just like the one at toddler club! And you were a speechless ball of smiles when you saw it. You also got a Gekko (PJ Masks) dressing up outfit, a Duplo airplane and airport, some Lego cars, a drawing board, a Smoby Pilot, a Paw Patrol bicycle helmet, an Usborne book with a train track and wind up train inside, a great big toy truck, a toy keyboard and a wooden dinosaur alphabet puzzle from Orange Tree Toys. There were also some books, clothes and a few other toys. You’ve been well and truly spoilt, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I’m so glad you had such a Happy Birthday. We are SO proud of you gorgeous boy. Here’s to another year of growing, learning, cuddling and smiling.
Love Mummy and Daddy
What a lovely post about a gorgeous boy! He is such a little character and I loved the way he was chattering at his birthday party. He is definitely very bright! That fire chief bike is amazing. No wonder he was so happy with it. x
