Just because you’re busy, that doesn’t mean you can’t look good. With a limited amount of time you just have to be smart and use some little time-saving tricks; you can look just as beautiful as people who have all the time in the world for a pampering routine.
Double-ups
One way to make the best use of time is to use products that do two jobs. For example, if you use a moisturising body-wash, you won’t need to moisturise after your shower, or you could use a moisturiser that contains a little tint or doubles up as a sun cream. A sneaky little tip for the morning is to apply hair conditioner to your body during your shower, making sure to rinse thoroughly; this can be absorbed more quickly than traditional moisturisers and saves you some time. If you have body oil, this can be used in the same way as it’s much lighter than moisturising cream.
Don’t neglect some part of your body
Also don’t forget to use the right hand and foot care products to maintain a nice look in areas of your body, like feet, that are not always exposed during the year, but are still very important to take care of. This will save you lots of time in spring and summertime when you’ll have to wear your sandals.
Multi-tasking
Some jobs can’t be rushed. After applying concealer or foundation, for example, it needs time to soak in. If you apply these before you do your hair or before you have your breakfast, you can fill that waiting time with something useful, which will also stop you from becoming impatient and applying the rest of your make up too soon. Another way of multitasking is to make good use of the many kinds of face masks available, so you could apply a moisturising mask and leave it on while you do your hair or put on a cleansing mask and buff your nails.
Give yourself the perfect canvas
If you have beautiful skin, it stands to reason that you will need less make up, so taking good care of it is vital. Using an exfoliating wash every few days to keep dead cells at bay will prevent blemishes and blackheads and won’t take any extra time if you simply exchange it for your usual wash. Tanned skin looks healthier and is a great ready-made base for make up, so regular use of a good-quality fake tan will save you a lot of time applying foundation.
Less is more
A natural look really can look better than a heavily made-up one, particularly during the day. Concentrate on your eyes and eyebrows, with a single, well-chosen colour on your lids and some mascara. If you have dark brows, you can run your mascara brush across them once you have finished applying it to your lashes, for added definition.
Beautiful hair in less time
A lot of time can be taken up just looking after your hair. If you have long or thick hair, it can take ages just to detangle it, but doing this job in the shower makes it a lot easier. By applying conditioner to your hair, then combing it through before rinsing, not only will your tangles have gone, but your conditioner will have had time to work through every hair, leaving it shiny and beautiful. Blow-drying is a time-consuming activity, but if you have a long journey into work, you can get away with drying your hairline and parting, which both dictate how your hair lies, leaving the rest to dry naturally.
Maintaining a well-groomed appearance is easier than you might think. With regular minor maintenance like eyebrow-plucking, you won’t be overwhelmed by the need to carry out large jobs. The most important things to remember are to have confidence, trust yourself and relax. If you do, your beauty will shine through!
