One of my favourite hobbies is eating. I LOVE food! I also love the odd game of poker occasionally. Playing poker in person is much more fun than online, because you can assess your opponents body language, try to suss their tells, call their bluff and generally psyche them out. It’s also more fun, because you can play with friends and make a long evening of it with a few drinks and some good food too. Yep I’m back to food again already. Just imagine how awesome it’d be, if you could play poker for food?!
Well… actually you can! An absolute legend called Andy Jones has come up with an innovative new concept, a pop-up restaurant called the All-In Kitchen! You pay £10 to buy in to a poker tournament and instead of winning money, the number of chips you win determine how much you pay for your meal.
When I say “meal”, we aren’t talking any old burger and chips either, we are talking a three-course meal of high quality cuisine, such as:
‘Royal Flush of King Crab Thermidor’, ‘Queen Scallops accompanied by Salt Baked Swede and Bacon Marmalade, ‘4 Of A Kind of Lamb Chops, Rump, Kidney and Shoulder With A Rosemary Jus’ and even a ‘2 Pair of Pear Tarte Tatin, Pear Caramel and Ice Cream’.
Here’s the best part… if you lose all your chips… you get your meal for free! So the very most you will pay for your food is £10. Isn’t that just a foodies dream? This experience is run by the UK and Ireland Poker Tour and like other pop-up restaurants, it will pop up in a town or city for just a short time, and then move on. This has already gone down a storm in London.
If you want to take a friend, but they prefer to watch, rather than play poker, there is also the option to buy the meal and watch the poker action unfolding.
