Underbed Storage: Doing it Properly
If you’re trying to keep the clutter in your home under control, then making use of your underbed space is one of the most important things you can do – it’s a big area that allows you to store a huge amount of stuff you don’t want on public display. That said, it’s something you can get more out if you do well, or do badly and find you’re getting less from this important resource..
Today we’re presenting a short guide to doing underbed storage well, so you’re able to store the most you can in the best way, and keep your room neat, tidy and somewhere you can really relax in.
Maximising Space
The first thing to do is make sure you’ve got all the necessary space available to you. If your bed is too low to the ground, you can increase the space available to you with bed risers – they’re a simple solution that’s available relatively cheaply from most hardware stores.
They’re easy to fit, and they’ll add a few inches of space to your underbed storage. They’re also safer than trying to devise your own solution. If you try to do it yourself, your home made bed riser may be uneven or unstable and you could find your bed making a startling return to earth in the middle of the night!
Packing Efficiently
Once you have a space to work with, you need to make sure you’re using it in the most efficient way possible.
Store big items that you won’t use very often closer to the back: you don’t need to access them so make sure they stay well out of the way – suitcases, rolled up rugs, even vacuum packed clothes in sealed bags are great things to push to the back of the under bed cavern you’ve created.
Closer to the front you can keep things you’ll need more regularly: a spare backpack, for example, underbed storage crates with spare bedding and so on!
If you’re still looking for more space after all this, you might need some London storage services to keep your excess items safe and sound until you have somewhere to permanently home them.
