Jonny and I don't have a lot of luck financially. We both work, but every time things start going right for us, something or someone always comes along and throws a spanner in the works.
Every time we come close to paying off all our debts, something happens with one of our jobs or another hefty bill comes along, to throw us back.
Something happened yesterday, (which I don't care to talk about), which has thrown us back down again, just when things were going right.
This always happens to us. It gets me down every time. Jonny always insists that we'll get through, because we always survive, but I'm sick of it. Why do we always have to scrape by with the skin of our teeth? Couldn't we just have ONE year where we can afford our rent?
I'm feeling very low today, as I had great plans for the rest of the summer, and for next year. Now most of that will be off. So in attempt to be upbeat, here's a motivational quote I found which pretty much sums up our relationship.
"Defeat may test you; it need not stop you. If at first you don't succeed, try another way. For every obstacle there is a solution. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. The greatest mistake is giving up."

I totally understand how you feel, we had an unexpectedly large bill come in last week which wiped out the money we had saved to pay off our Florida holiday, hence all the paid for posts this last week!

Oh my goodness Emma, your relationship sounds exactly like mine. The husband and I have been a couple for 9 years now and every SINGLE year without a doubt, something or someone messes up for us and sets us right back. I actually feel quite glad that this year started on such a low for us because it was only ever going to get better and at last it has. I hope things turn a corner for you soon as well. Xx

I can empathise. The Red Queen (Alice Through the Looking Glass – Lewis Carroll) comes to mind:
“It takes all the running you can do, round here, just to stay in the same place.”

So sorry things aren’t going so well for you 🙁 I really hope they pick up soon. We had a fair few broke years back in the day. We only got on track when daughter was 2 and we were 34. x
