Oooh I have a treat for you this week... not one but TWO poems. Not mine though.
Yesterday was mine and Jonny 2nd Wedding Anniversary. So I am going to share with you the readings we read to each other, after our vows, at our wedding.
This is the one I read to Jonny...
I Promise By Dorothy R. Colgan
I promise to give you the best of myself
and to ask of you no more than you can give.I promise to respect you as your own person
and to realise that your interests, desires and needs
are no less important than my own.
I promise to share with you my time and my attention
and to bring joy, strength and imagination to our relationship.
I promise to keep myself open to you,
to let you see through the window of my world into my innermost fears
and feelings, secrets and dreams.
I promise to grow along with you,
to be willing to face changes in order to keep our relationship alive and exciting.
I promise to love you in good times and in bad,
with all I have to give and all I feel inside in the only way I know how.
Completely and forever
And here is the reading that Jonny read to me:
I will be Here By Steven Curtis Chapman
If in the morning when you wake,
If the sun does not appear,
I will be here.
If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand and have no fear,
I will be here.
I will be here,
When you feel like being quiet,
When you need to speak your mind I will listen.
Through the winning, losing, and trying we'll be together,
And I will be here.
If in the morning when you wake,
If the future is unclear,
I will be here.
As sure as seasons were made for change,
Our lifetimes were made for years,
I will be here.
I will be here,
And you can cry on my shoulder,
When the mirror tells us we're older.
I will hold you, to watch you grow in beauty,
And tell you all the things you are to me.
We'll be together and I will be here.
I will be true to the promises I've made,
To you and to the one who gave you to me.
I will be here.
I hope you find these as beautiful and touching as we do.

Those are such beautiful poems and seem so appropriate with hindsight of what lay ahead of you. X

Hi, I’ve linked up with a post about the mind-numbing boredom of planning my family’s meals every week, so not one of the most romantic/touching poems on here! Oh well, hope you enjoy it anyway x

When I first read this, I was reduced to tears. When you both made those vows, you didn’t know what lay ahead. But you have both stood by them so beautifully – and you are among the bravest people I have met in the blogging community. Best wishes to you all for the days ahead!
