It is Wednesday evening and not only am I late posting #WednesdayWords but I'll let you into a secret... last week I forgot... COMPLETELY! I know... shock horror! The first Wednesday in almost a year with nothing inspiring from me on a Wednesday!
"But why?" I hear you ask...
I've had a lot on my mind lately and have spent a horrendous amount of time :
a) In the kitchen attempting to cook something I'm actually allowed to eat on the low iodine diet, ahead of my radioactive iodine next week.
b) Laying down and feeling sad
c) Cuddling my children
d) Fretting about things, instead of "doing" things.
e) Stopping, staring and appreciating the smallest of things. Noticing things too - like all the different colours on the trees, and the way they glow against a blue sunny sky.
That brings me to a poem I love, by William Henry Davies, which I first heard on a TV ad many years ago (a very successful tv ad as I can still remember which brand they were advertising!)...

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
